Name: Dito
Canon: Drakengard 3
Gender: Male
Age: 22, physically looks 16
History: Plot | Story + Endings | Dito + Dito's Novella & Dito's Spear
Personality: On first glance, Dito is just a regular-looking young man, but as soon as he opens his mouth he's actually incredibly vulgar, violent, and definitely older than he looks. Despite his young-looking visage, Dito is actually twenty-two years old, and holds an insatiable desire for all things guts and gore.
Our first glance into Dito's violent nature is in Branch A of the game - after Zero fails to properly kill her sister Five, Dito cleaves her in two, finally freed from her control over him. He then launches into a vicious rant so vulgar the game censors it from viewers' ears, and further desecrates her corpse by slashing and kicking it. After snapping out of his violent haze he mutters 'what was her name again?' feigning that he's forgotten all about her, a probably last-stab at Five, who always wanted everyone's attention. While his anger for being Five's sex slave for most of his life is a definite factor to how he acts in day to day life, it's clear that Dito's violent urges aren't from her alone. He loves to fight, loves to demean and ridicule others, and is frequently disgusted by those around him. While Five loved to play him up as her 'cute little toy' Dito has always been farthest from the idea in real life.
Dito holds a deep resentment for Five, he's so disgusted by her using him that the scent of the ocean they called their home makes him ill enough to vomit. He claims the salty sea air reminds him of her sweaty body more than anything, and it utterly repulses him. Every fancy and sexual whim of hers was his to help her go through with, him mentioning more than once about how he'd be forced via her control over him as his Intoner, to consent and even feign smiling and enjoying himself. Dito has stated how the idea of 'true love' makes him want to hurl, probably something that stemmed from Five and her 'love' for him. His idea of any sort of true love is tainted after being her plaything for so long, and as he cleaved her in two he angrily mocked her, saying 'I love you I love you - what did you love?'.
Perhaps due to his freedom from being controlled by Five, Dito is incredibly receptive to being Zero's first Disciple. He immediately seems comfortable with her, even going as far to flirt with her, and tell her dragon Mikhael to stay away that night since he'll 'take care' of Zero. Zero has no interest in controlling Dito or forcing him to do anything against his will, something incredibly enticing to him. He is even comfortable enough being slightly childish with her, asking for a piggy-back when he's tired, and referring to her affectionately as "Z". One of the best examples of his true feelings towards Zero come in Branch D - after betraying the party, and realizing he's about to lose Zero's companionship forever, he furiously back-pedals. Realizing his mistake too late, Dito frantically reaches out for Zero, begging her to help him, before he loses his form and 'dies' being turned back into a regular dove. Dito's lust for his own depraved interests to be 'normal' clouded his judgement, and didn't let him see how happy he actually was in Zero's party, and at her side. The second doesn't seem like much, but no matter what she does, Dito is always the one saying 'that's my Z' and happily going along at her side. While not quite romantic, and not quite friendship, their bond together as Intoner and Disciple is important to Dito's growth - it's unfortunate he realized it too late.
Dito's childish side also shines through in the way he likes to tease others, much to Zero's dismay when he teaches Mikael dirty phrases and eggs on members of the party like Decadus, who is a severe masochist. Nigh all his interactions with Decadus, when he isn't calling him gross, are him threatening him by 'stepping on his dick' or other depraved cravings his party member would enjoy, to rile him up for hilarity's purpose. Another shining example is when Mikhael destroys a bridge and Dito holds back 'to see what would happen' and casually mentioning to Zero that her yelling may cause an avalanche, both things that end in Zero getting in comically unfortunate situations. While his idea of teasing may be a bit harsher than most would consider normal, it's always in balance with the strength and durability of the characters in the game - aka no one has ever gotten hurt getting stuck in said avalanche or falling from a destroyed bridge.
Dito's lust starts and and ends with guts and blood ("There's blood EVERYWHERE! it's even in my EYES! HA HA HA HA") - in Branch D this is punctuated better than any other, when Five reanimates her own corpse, and turns into a walking, talking zombie. Dito is willing to cast aside his intense loathing of her, going as far to tell her she can do 'anything she wants to him' and how a world filled with her and her zombie knights is perfect for 'a sick sap like him'. Throughout the game Dito is always the one ready to hoot and holler about how happy he is slaughtering foes left and right (which happens a lot since every level is essentially a beat-'em-up) with such examples being loving the smell of burning flesh, and happily gushing to Zero about bloated corpses.
Dito is always ready to be vocal about his special loathing of anything or anyone he deems ugly, useless, or pathetic. He hates the 'buff macho' look, and hates stupidity - something his party member Cent has both of in spades. Cent is the best example of Dito's vulgarity and irritance towards others, minus the foot-soldiers he kills at every chance. Every conversation the two share is Cent opening his mouth and Dito quickly shutting him down with threats of violence or telling him how stupid he is. Dito makes it incredibly apparent how unhappy he is in a 'normal' world, and in Branch D, it becomes incredibly apparent how eager he is for a world where his own loves and personality 'fit'. He even reaches out to Cent (lost and upset with the death of his Intoner, Two), someone we've been set up to think he loathed completely, telling him to stay in this world where "ugly is beautiful" along with him. He's incredibly confused when Cent refuses his offer, not understanding how someone so unhappy with their life could accept living in a normal world instead of this messed up world where they wouldn't have to worry about anything but what they wanted.
Powers/Abilities: Can summon the angel Phanuel when under Five (or another Intoner) as her Disciple. Summoning an angel without the help of an Intoner results in the Disciples death. Aside from his summoning skills as a Disciple, he can use his Chinese spear in combat, and as per Drakengard games, he can jump incredibly high and naturally has increased strength in combat from a 'normal' human equivalent. Seems to have a heightened physical recovery process when fighting with normal humans and monsters, though attacks from Intoners and Disciples greatly hinter this recovery process.
Keepsakes/Mementos: His panda keychain and spear, a black hair ribbon belonging to Zero.
Sample: "Hey Z'... looks like your numbers up!"
Seeing her standing there, skin dark and rotting, eyes black, twisting around in her skull as she spoke... Five was gorgeous. So no one could blame him for turning tail, right? It made total sense to toss away everything he had because of this pathetic world, teeming with zombies and all sorts of fucked up shit... Except, they did blame him - so here he was, fighting his former comrades.
With a raise of his hands and a call of its name, Phanuel rises from above him, while Cent calls on Egregori to protect Zero. Everything goes by in a blissful haze, in Dito's eyes - Zero is off fighting Five and her fellow zombie knights a moment later, while Cent is trying to get in his way. Normally he'd be pissed, but this was... this was amazing. Mindless, rotting corpses falling one by one, falling apart with nearly every step... every time they opened their mouths he could see their guts and -
"Look at it, Cent! It's amazing! There's blood and guts and... everything!" He throws his arms out in his glee, Phanuel charging forward with pincers raised to ram its entire body into one of the Egregori. Dito wraps his arms around his body, not able to even focus on the battle in front of him. His eyes are focused on Zero, hacking apart reanimated corpses one by one; the splash of their festering blood, the stench permeating in the air around them; Five standing there, not doing a damn thing and for once in her miserable, pathetic life, looking so frigging good-
"It's a world where only ugly is beautiful!" He practically quivers in anticipation of his own words. That was right - he'd finally found it, a place where he could belong. A place where his sick desires were normal, a place he could finally be happy... He turns to look back at Cent now, a mindless look of pure joy on his face. Right, this poor sap was just like him, wasn't he? He didn't have anywhere to go, anywhere he fit in. He was just as pathetic as he was, so -
"And a world where idiots are geniuses! So join me, Cent! Come on, I know you hate the world you're in!" He thrusts out his hand, even with Cent so far away from him - it's an invitation. An offer. He didn't have to be the only one to stay here, the only one to take this chance while it was there. "I've known it forever! Its written all over your face!-"
Ah. But then Cent had to go and ruin it all (like always) - spouting some lovesick crap about how joining him here wouldn't mean a thing without his precious Lady Two. It made his stomach churn, and he grits his teeth, retracting his hand to swat it through the air. What the hell? How could he still be thinking about her? It was pathetic... but he wasn't going to let this ruin his fun. No - if Cent didn't want to join him that was fine. He laughs, low at first, but it turns manic.
If Phanuel is winning or losing, he couldn't care less - when he turns back to watch the fight, he sees Five tearing the rotting flesh off some pathetic, rotting soldier. He swears he could get hard right then and there - he bites his bottom lip so hard it almost bleeds - Phanuel and Egregori are locked in a stalemate, and all Dito can do is stare in wonder at everything around him. Zombies fighting, the stench of blood in the air... and he's engulfed in a white light, and everything seems to halt right then and there.
"You summoned an Angel without the help of an Intoner. Gonna' have to pay for it somehow." Dito whirls around, seeing Zero's emotionless stare leveled right at him. Pay for it? For what? Just because of this huge, stupid god-crab? What was gonna' happen? With a flash of light, Phanuel is gone, and his body starts to feel light - he's not sure whats happening, but dread piles in his stomach, and he feels sick. No... no this wasn't how things were supposed to happen. He'd finally...!
"Oh, come on! That's not even fair!" He whirls around, balling his hands into fists and stomping his feet like a petulant child. "I finally found it-" He steps back, looking around at the bloodied battlefield around them.
"I finally found a world I can live in and truly love!"
He throws his arms out, but when he focuses on Zero in front of him again, he knows it - feels it. This was it. He'd fucked up. This world, perfect in every way... and his world with Zero, killing shit left and right, being free... he couldn't have either of them now. The look on his face is pathetic, and were he in a better state of mind, he'd probably hate himself for it. Becoming exactly what he hated, greedily lusting after something and willing to give everything for it...
He'd really, really fucked up, and now-
"Zero, wait. No! No no no no no no no-"
He reaches out to her with both hands, running forward like any little thing he can do now could change anything. This wasn't Zero's doing - groveling, begging, crying... none of it would change this. He'd done this. He'd asked for too much, and sealed his fate. He'd tossed everything he had aside for this one perfect little world.
The last thing he sees is Zero turn her head away, and he swears for a minute, she almost looked pained.
Ah... he'd really fucked up.
Sorry, Z'.
Mindset: Dito will be relatively fine with being brought to Monad, and will think of it as some afterlife he's been sent to for punishment for summoning an Angel without an Intoners song. Once things start to go downhill, of course, he'll start thinking of it more like a hell he's been sent to, and he might raise a little hell of his own.
G̶̶l̨͡i̵͢t̷c͝͠h̕é͠s̷̷͡: Five, his Intoner, disgusts him due to being her sexual plaything for his entire life. Her voice, her smell, her fashion sence, her body, all of it disgusts him. The smell of the sea reminds him of her, and makes him want to vomit. Hates being forced to do things against his own will, and not having control.
